A tile pattern that looks like a rug!
A faux rug is the solution to creating whimsy with a little
trick to the eye
when people realize they are standing on artwork....not a real "rug".

"The
detailed fringe is gorgeous! I used colors to
match my bathroom
colors and it was really fun seeing it
come together as I applied the paints".

HOW THE IDEA BEGAN
In 1989 I had been in a
car accident and hurt my back. As a result I wasn't able to work as an
Interior Designer. I took up painting tile and tableware while I was
recovering and fell in love with it. So did my friends, they all
ordered Christmas presents!
I decided to start Tile Art Ltd.
January 1, 1989. However, I needed to advertise and my budget
wouldn't allow for it. So I decided to donate my work where it would
get high exposure.
As an Interior Designer I knew the Baltimore Decorator Symphony Show House
was opening in April so I called the designer doing the bathroom and offered
to donate my work.
When I went to look at her
bathroom it was nearly complete but the floor wasn't in yet.
I suggested a rug to match the fabric and the rug fringe to match the
ceiling border around the room.

A few
weeks later I got a call from
Better Homes and
Gardens magazine
and they asked my permission to print
an
article on my unique business and the rug!
Over the next year it was in
Beautiful Baths, Bedroom and
Bath
and Kitchen and Bath.

When the show house opened it was a huge hit.
People would
stop in surprise and laugh as they noticed it was
tile painted
to look like a rug.
